This past meeting was a meeting full of excitement, questions, and anticipation. Will Morgenweck of DNNCorp traveled to Charlotte to visit our user group and gave our group a preview of DotNetNuke’s upcoming release… DotNetNuke 6.0.
We had a great attendance and had some good food on hand courtesy of the meeting’s sponsor PowerDNN. Everyone socialized for a bit while munching on some Jimmie John subs and chips and then it was time for the meeting to begin. QCDUG leader Allen Foster of Cool Coyotes began the meeting with announcements and then he introduced our guest speaker Mr. Will Morgenweck.
After a few intro slides, door prizes, and cracks at Will Strohl, Will got into the heart of his presentation. Will guided us through a tour of a site running 6.0 and it was really nice! DNN has drastically improved the UI/UX of the application with many enhancements. JQuery is heavily used with this release and it is very noticeable. Mega-menus are integrated into the application, the module actions menu has been updated, modal pop-ups, really awesome page management, updated app store, updated site log module, tabbed menus, enhanced control panel, and the list keeps going on. It didn’t take long before the audience started giving kudos on the update and started asking some good questions. The audience was very engaged and the new features and updated look had everyone’s gears turning within minutes.
Will noted that one of the most important things that we as users can do is to download DNN 6’s beta and start testing it with our skins, modules, and personal sites. Giving feedback on any potential bugs, enhancements, or quirky things that one can find will greatly help out with the release. It was a great meeting and everyone left feeling energized and what’s just around the corner in DotNetNuke! Thanks again to Will Morgenweck for coming up to Charlotte and a big kudos to all the engineers, developers, coders, and teams involved with the update from DNN… it looks awesome!
